Three cheers for a new school year! My name is Mrs. Welch and I will be teaching freshman English. This is my 8th school year at Holbrook Middle High School and I look forward to many more. Prior to coming to Holbrook, I worked for 5 years at a residential school catering to students with severe special needs and emotional impairments. After leaving there, I worked for one year at Chapman Middle School in Weymouth, MA as a 6th grade English teacher, and eventually found myself here at Holbrook Middle High School!
I have a 4 (almost 5) year old son named Jeremy who is my world! He was diagnosed at 21 months with Autism, but he continues to surprise me every single day! He does not let it define him! He is also a heart warrior!
I have a Bachelors degree from Rhode Island College in English and Psychology. I also have a Master of Arts Degree in Middle/Secondary Education-English from Rhode Island College and a Masters in Special Education from Bridgewater State University.
Some of the novels we will be reading include Speak, The Lovely Bones (Honors), Oedipus the King, Of Mice and Men, Romeo and Juliet, and finally Night. Get ready for a great year!
