Title I: Schoolwide Program
A schoolwide program permits an eligible school to use Title I, Part A funds in combination with state and local resources and most other federal education program funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school to raise the academic achievement of all the students. Schoolwide programs use the approach of improving the entire school program with the intent of meeting the needs of those students who are failing or most at risk of failing to meet the state’s academic achievement standards.
The primary objectives of the Schoolwide Title I Program are to:
- assist schools in meeting the goal of consistent growth in student achievement
- support schools in the implementation of high quality, research based literacy programs
- to provide staff professional development
- to provide parents/guardians with family engagement activities and strategies to support their children at home
